I’ve just completed a painting of Blackpool Central railway station. It depicts an ex LMS Stanier Black 5 locomotive leaving the station with an early morning train to Manchester in 1963, a year before Blackpool Central closed.Here’s how the painting
The South Eastern Railway was the first to reach Ramsgate with its line from Ashford. The line opened in April 1846 and ran via Canterbury. A branch from Ramsgate Town to Margate Sands station opened in December 1846. My painting
I first discovered the Kent and Sussex Oxted lines in 1965 shortly before the demise of the Eridge – Polegate railway. Steam could still be seen on this part of the Southern Region in the form of British Railways class
