Prints are now available of my painting of Isle of Thanet Tramways tram cars passing the waterfall by Madeira Walk in Ramsgate (1905). Tram car number 49 slowly grinds up the steep hill past the gardens, while number 17 nears the Ramsgate Harbour tram stop gingerly descending the gradient under full braking.

The 10.84 mile tram route started from Canterbury Road, Westbrook, Margate and ran along the seafront before turning inland through Cliftonville, across the Isle of Thanet to St. Peters and Broadstairs, where it ran along High Street and Dumpton Park Road, then on to Ramsgate, where it terminated at the South Eastern Railway’s Ramsgate Town Station near the top of Chatham Street.
When that station closed in 1926, trams terminated near to the entrance of nearby Ellington Park.
